Plan the Perfect Chicago Mother’s Day

With another Chicago Mother’s Day right around the corner, it is time to start planning. While there is no replacement for a beautiful bouquet or arrangement of flowers, there are some amazing activities Chicago offers that you can plan with your mom or caretakers. 

First, we plan the activity of the day, which of course has to include flowers. We have gathered a few of our favorite options below. 

Flowers Around Chicago

Visit the Chicago Botanical Gardens, located in Glencoe, IL. Tickets range from $11-$20 depending on the day. The best part of the Botanical Gardens are the Spring blooms you get to see as we head into May. Their highlighted stems include, Snow drops, Magnolias, Daffodils, Azaleas, Lilacs and more. On top of their vast array of flowers, they have three special gardens to visit, the Sensory Garden, Circle Garden, and Lakeside Gardens. Each provides a unique and special experience. 

The Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago, is hosting a Spring Flower Show: Knock Knock. The blooming flowers include tulips, hydrangeas, daffodils, and hyacinth. To go along with their theme of knock, knock, doors from the Rebuilding Exchange will hang among the blooms. The show ends on May 8th, so it will be a perfect Mother’s Day activity. 

Lincoln Park Conservatory, The Pillars of Spring. For those that are more interested in Plants, this show is perfect. They are re-imagining plants from the ground up by showcasing pillars and walls covered in flowers from Larkspur to Stock. With other great features such as the Victorian glass house,  Shakespeare Monument, Bates Fountain and more!

Next up, choosing the restaurant! No Mother’s Day would be complete without a great meal to thank Mom. There are so many options in Chicago, but we thought we would recommend Wake ‘n Bacon in Lakeview. Besides their new and inventive menu, they have a beautiful floral display hanging from the ceiling.
