How To use Dinner Table Flowers to Impress the Best

October 6, 2014

While the DIY movement grows by the day, we as a society are also starting to realize that some things are better left to the professionals. Just looking at a relevant Pinterest board reveals a ton of floral ideas that look much easier to throw together than they really are.

This disconnect is the reason Flowers for Dreams is expanding its events service offerings. We recently partnered with a Bot Bakery who is a staple at the beloved Logan Square Farmers Market, and a Midwestern leader in the vegan and gluten free foods industry.

Betty, the owner of Bot Bakery, contacted me last Tuesday asking about personalized flowers for the dozen guests of her dinner party on Tuesday. She branched out into hosting ticketed dinner parties this year with noticeable success as this particular event sold out weeks ago. I attended one of her dinner parties dinner parties in August & had thought about what could add to the atmosphere. Pictured below is a personal picture of Betty’s vegan & gluten free chicken and waffles from said event.

I quickly foraged around the city, particularly in our neighborhood of West Town, for accent flowers that could add a touch of rustic beauty to match Betty’s unique style. I also gathered some supplies from my own pantry, including some fragrant Greek Mountain Tea stalks & a leafy head of cabbage.

Then I gave the plans to our lovely design team, and they quickly combined the foraged steams with premium flowers from the buckets for daily deliveries & voila! Beautiful table pieces that rest so elegantly next to dinner plates.

I just can’t get over the adorable cabbage leaves, but here is a picture from Bot Bakery of the above flowers actually placed on the dinner table.
